April 22, 2015 - Workforce MInistry Program: "I Should Have Done It Sooner"

More than 40 potential entrepreneurs gathered in Meletia Hall on April 22nd to learn the nuts & bolts of owning a business during the St. Anselm Workforce Ministry’s free event, “How To Start a Business & Stay In Business:  The Entrepreneurial Journey.”  The evening began with a warm welcome and a thoughtful prayer from Msgr. Maloney “to gain knowledge to better ourselves and better our community.”  George Telmany, a Certified Business Advisor with the Small Business Development Center, moderated a panel discussion asking the local established business owners to describe their unique circumstances, how they grew their businesses and what they learned in the process.  George then invited questions from the audience.   The established business owners on the panel gave frank answers to questions including starting a business after a first career, weathering economic storms, and using Social Media to publicize your business.

George Telmany also provided a brief financial overview which included the 4 C’s of raising capital to open a business:  a healthy Credit Score, the amount of Cash on hand, Collateral, & Capacity to repay what you borrow.
