Publicity Committee

The Publicity Committee covers events that take place in St. Anselm Parish.  Members take photos and write up brief articles regarding each event.  Photos and articles are displayed on our Church Bulletin Board in the Main Vestibule and are published online.  As of June 2013, the Committee has maintained a photo history of Parish events which are displayed at Sunday Socials and online.  The committee also reaches out to local papers to make the Bay Ridge Community aware of events occurring in our vibrant Parish.

If you are interested in joining the Publicity Committee please contact either Robert Kassenbrock or Eileen Loughlin at (718) 238-2900.

Respect for Life

The Respect Life Committee at St. Anselm Parish was begun in September 2011. The primary goal of the Committee is to create and sustain respect for all human life at every stage of existence and in every situation, from the moment of conception to the moment of natural death.

Over the past several years the Committee has sponsored a number of parish activities to help achieve this goal:

  • Benedictions and Masses for Life
  • Spiritual Adoption of a Pre-born Baby
  • Co-sponsoring with the Holy Name Society a Drive of Baby Clothes and Toys to help families in need
  • Holding a Collection for Newborns, Infants, and Toddlers of Diapers, Wipes, Formula, Blankets, and Baby Lotion
  • Encouraging prayers and Pilgrimages to Washington D.C. for the Unborn

The Respect Life Committee meets on the first Tuesday of each month at 7:30 pm.

Please call 718-680-3755 for location. We encourage new members to join us.

Social Committee

The Social Committee’s main function is to provide an opportunity for parishioners to get together in a friendly setting. The responsibility of volunteers is to organize monthly socials following the 10 AM Mass, set up coffee, tea, juice and light refreshments prior to Mass and to serve and clean up. Volunteers may be called upon to assist at other parish events in the same capacity.
The schedule for the school year follows:
Sept. 27, hosted by the PPC
Oct. 18, co- hosted by grades K and 1
Nov. 22, hosted by Youth Activities
Jan. 21, co-hosted by grades 2 and 3
Feb. 28, co-hosted by grade 4 and 5
Mar. 13, co-hosted by grades 6 and 7
Apr. 24, hosted by Religious Ed
May 14, hosted by grade 8
Everyone is welcome at the socials and we are always looking for new volunteers.
If you are interested, please contact the rectory at 718-238-2900.

Ushers (Ministry of Hospitality)

Ushers are the group of individuals who welcome worshipers to the weekend Masses. They provide a count of the congregation for the parish record, take up the collections, arrange for parishioners to participate in the Eucharistic celebration by selecting worshipers to present the gifts, and give out bulletins, flyers and, any current materials which the parish or diocese may wish to be distributed.
Ushers should make a commitment to attend a particular Mass as much as possible and to let the head usher know in advance if they will not be able to be present on a particular weekend. To become an usher speak to the head usher of the Mass, which you attend, or call the rectory: 718-238-2900.

Website Committee

Recognizing the importance of communication between St. Anselm and our parishioners, and heeding to the call of parishioners at the PPC’s Parish Assembly, we are proud to have a current new website. We encourage usage of this site as a way to access information and to keep in touch.

Workforce Ministry

The St. Anselm Workforce Ministry is a committee of the St. Anselm Parish Pastoral Planning Council. The Workforce Ministry, which began in 2008, is comprised of parish volunteers. The mission of the Workforce Ministry is to provide parishioners, the members of the Bay Ridge Community and beyond with the knowledge and tools necessary for finding employment, changing careers or starting their own business.

Our event partners have included the Brooklyn Chamber of Commerce, Opportunities for a Better Tomorrow, The Brooklyn Economic Development Corporation and the Small Business Development Center.

Past Workforce Ministry events covered topics such as job sourcing information, resume development, and effective interviewing strategies for finding employment or changing careers. Additionally, other events to start a business included panel discussions with small business owners and writing a business plan.

We are currently in the process of planning future events and welcome you to join our dynamic committee. Please contact This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. if you would like to join us.
