The Holy Trinity Mural

The upper part of the rear wall of the sanctuary is filled with an enormous mural by artist Hugo Olhms noted for his work in the Cathedral of Saint Augustine, Fl. and the Main Library in Hartford, Conn. At the top, the Father is shown wearing a papal tiara, symbolizing his complete rule over heaven, earth, and hell. The triangular halo signifies the Trinity. To the Father’s right, the Son wears a white robe to signify purity, and a red mantle for sacrifice. His halo bears a cross. Between them hovers the Holy Spirit in the traditional form of a dove. Below them may be glimpsed the new and eternal Jerusalem. Angels proclaim the glory of the Trinity and look on at two of the central events of our salvation, the Nativity and the Resurrection.
