The Marble Work

The marble work of the sanctuary is fittingly the richest in color and design in the church. Rosso Levanto and Verde Issorie cover the floor and steps, while a deep purple Rouge Royal serves as the wainscot of the walls. The Rouge Royal has been set in a manner so that the slabs mirror each other, creating a pattern on the rear and sidewalls. In ancient times the color purple was only worn by the imperial family and came to be associated with Christ as King
