The Nave

The nave is divided into eight bays from the entrance to the sanctuary, by windows, transepts, and the ceiling carried on mammoth projecting trusses and segmented arches, the rhythm naturally carries the visitor’s eye forward to the sanctuary, the liturgical focus of the interior. The lower portion of the walls is faced with rose colored marble to a height of 12?? feet, the walls above consist of a creamy pink/gray plaster. The coffered ceiling of the nave and the vault of the sanctuary originally were decorated with stenciled designs. A series of large lighting fixtures in bronze, aluminum, and dark red wood, as well as recessed fixtures provide for light. The beautiful terrazzo flooring consists of shades of pink, burgundy, beige, and green.
