Passing the newly dedicated crucifix situated at the corner you encounter the north side of the church (82nd Street), where you may view the great rectangular spaces of the four nave windows. Simply treated without any fussy moldings, each window is capped by a decorative cross in brick. In the Middle Ages it was customary to begin each story window in the great cathedrals, monasteries, and town churches with an image of Christ. Here the architect has reinterpreted that medieval tradition in a mid-twentieth century manner.
