The Vestibule

Passing inside a visitor enters the vestibule, or narthex. Stairwells give access to the organ loft, bronze and glass cases provide display space for parish announcements, lavatories, a service closet, and a cloakroom complete the space. The vestibule provides a place for members of the congregation and the priest to meet and greet each other before and after masses, funerals, and other services while not exposed to the weather. The holy water basins here and inside the church at the transepts provide the visitor with an opportunity to renew his or her Baptismal commitment as a disciple of Christ. The vestibule is covered in beautiful dark wood paneling.
