November 3, 2013 – St. Anselm Volunteers at NYC Marathon

St. Anselm Spirit

Marathon Sunday was especially festive as our Parishioners showed their St. Anselm Spirit by supporting the runners in the NYC Marathon in a variety of ways.  Many of our Parishioners lined the streets cheering on the waves of runners.  St. Anselm Catholic Academy students, parents, and teachers along with the St. Anselm Parish staff designed stars for the “Be Ridge” Project.  “Be Ridge”, which encourages students to reflect on basic values, was coordinated by Mrs. Cusack, the St. Anselm Catholic Academy Art Teacher.  Parent volunteers, students, and teachers met the morning prior to the Marathon to hang the colorful Stars along the parking lot fence, which created a bright, welcoming environment for the runners.  In addition to cheering on the Marathon runners, Parishioners volunteered to distribute water, Gatorade and words of encouragement to help keep our runners on the go.  Many thanks to all of our St. Anselm Stars!

All the Best,

The St. Anselm Publicity Committee
