While the calendar said “spring”, the blustery winds and unseasonably cold temperature said “winter” as the Saint Anselm Holy Name Society held its annual Used Clothing Drive for the benefit of the St. Vincent de Paul Society. The event, which took place on Sunday, April 3rd, brought out dozens of our parishioners and Bay Ridge neighbors during the Sunday morning Masses to contribute clothing for this worthwhile cause. Despite the cold, each donor was greeted with a warm smile and a thank you from the St. Vincent DePaul driver. The scores of bags that were donated will benefit the Saint Vincent de Paul Society in stocking racks in their stores, to provide income for St. Vincent’s charitable programs, and in providing clothing to distribute to the poor.
We thank the St. Vincent de Paul Society for this much-needed service to those in need in the Brooklyn Diocese and throughout the world.
A Prayer by St. Vincent de Paul
Oh Lord, you selected the poor and simple people to be your Apostles.
Look upon your poor servant kneeling before you now.
Implant charity in my heart,
so that one day I may join
the beautiful Communion of Saints,
that true community of charity,
triumphant with you in heaven.
Thank you St. Anselm Parishioners for your support!
All the Best
