December 20, 2015 – An Advent Afternoon: Prayer & Song to Prepare for Christmas

Give yourself over to God for a little while,

and rest for a while in him.   (St. Anselm)

On Sunday December 20th parishioners and visitors to our parish enjoyed a wonderful opportunity to truly prepare for the way of the Lord at the second annual “An Advent Afternoon: Prayer & Song to Prepare for Christmas” which was held in our church.   Msgr. Maloney began the program by encouraging all to “stop a while” and relax for an afternoon of reflection and prayer. The congregation was treated to the simple yet beautiful sight of the illuminated altar candelabra and Advent Wreath.

There were readings from the Gospel according to Luke along with the poignant “One Solitary Life”. The voices of the choir members soared throughout the church as they performed spectacular versions of beloved carols including “People Look East”, “Angels We Have Heard On High”, God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen”, “The First Noel”, “Do You See What I See”, “Silent Night”, “O Holy Night”, and “Hark The Herald Angels Sing”.

We are truly grateful for the talents of our Musical Director/Soloist Therese Panicali, our organist Carlos Bernales, and all the members of the St. Anselm Adult Choir for providing us with such thoughtful readings and joyous songs.  We would also like to thank Msgr. Maloney for providing us with a beautiful, peaceful setting and opportunity to reflect on the “reason for the season.”

All The Best,

The St. Anselm Publicity Committee
