December 5, 2015 – The Blessing of the New Outdoor Nativity & The Lighting of the Advent Trees

The Blessing of the New Outdoor Nativity

& The Lighting of the Advent Trees

“Behold, the Lord will come to save the nations, and the Lord will make the glory of his voice heard in the joy of your heart.”

(Isaiah 30:19, 30)

Parishioners gathered after the 5pm Mass on Saturday, December 5th to welcome an addition to the St. Anselm family—a new outdoor nativity scene.  Msgr. Maloney blessed the nativity noting, “May it remind us of the humble birth of Jesus”. The Adult Choir then serenaded the crowd with a glorious version of “People Look East.”

Monsignor then thanked all the parishioners who sponsored a tree and gave the command, “Let there be light!”  Suddenly, the evergreens were bathed in beautiful cool blue lights and there was a wonderful feeling in the air as the Adult Choir and parishioners sang, “Joy to the World!”

Many thanks to Phyllis Arlia and her committee for their tireless work securing the trees and lights, creating and installing the lovely labels and for finding our marvelous new outdoor nativity scene.

We would also like to thank the St. Anselm Adult Choir and Therese Panicali, the Director of Music Ministry for providing such beautiful, joyous hymns to mark the occasion.

Finally, thanks to Msgr. Maloney for providing events such as this where we can show everyone what a vibrant, involved parish St. Anselm is!

All the Best,

The St. Anselm Publicity Committee
