How Sweet the Sound!
Everyone had their Irish on at the 2nd Annual St. Patrick’s Day Party at St. Anselm on March 22nd. Parishioners and guests of all ages enjoyed the lively music of “Band of Rogues” who kept us on our toes with fun Irish songs including “Irish Rover” & “No, Nay, Never”. There was also a great Irish buffet, which included all the traditional trimmings, from Mejlander & Mulgannon Caterers, along with delicious deserts.
In addition to the great songs, fabulous food, and fun conversations, the other highlight of the party was the “concert” by the members of various Pipe & Drum Corps who after performing in the Bay Ridge St. Patrick’s Day Parade came to serenade their friends at St. Anselm. These musicians from the New York Police Department Emerald Society, Department of Sanitation of the City of New York, Richmond County, the Knights of Columbus and Breezy Point pooled their talents on traditional Irish songs including an absolutely unforgettable version of “Amazing Grace”.
We would like to thank Msgr. Maloney for being such a gracious host, Fr. Stephen Saffron for his beautiful blessing, all our wonderful musicians, our guests for supporting St. Anselm Catholic Academy, and especially the St. Patrick’s Day Party Committee members: Regina McPadden – Committee Chair, Michele Soto, Barbara Thomas, Majella Volk, Eileen White, Kim Coleman, Christine Deem & Melissa Lavin, and the many husbands – especially Brian Coleman who ran the Irish coffee station, and volunteers, for providing such a fun, lively day of enjoyment. We hope you’ll put your Irish on next year and join us for more great times!
All the Best,
The St. Anselm Publicity Committee
