October 15, 2016 – St. Anselm Doo-Wop Evening & Fund Raiser

Gathering in Meletia Hall on Saturday, October 15th for a fun evening revisiting the great music from the 40’s, 50’s and 60’s, Saint Anselm parishioners and our many friends (and even one party goer all the way from Bonn, Germany) enjoyed an evening of dancing, dining, and conviviality to the sounds of classic Doo Wop. Guests also enjoyed a delicious assortment of food, raffles, and the opportunity to socialize. The more than one hundred partygoers in attendance and the many donations raised much-appreciated funds for the parish.

The evening, following on last year’s event in support of sending two young parishioners to World Youth Day 2016 in Krakow, was the parish’s second autumn Doo Wop Concert.  Food donated by local restaurants, scores of gift baskets (which were also entirely donated), a 50/50 raffle, and the generous support of the partygoers all contributed to a successful evening.

The enthusiastic audience greeted the sweet stylings of John Kruse & the Excellents, vocalist – Maria Roldan, and DJ “Victor” performing such hits as: Brooklyn’s own “Coney Island Baby”, “Sweet Caroline”, La Bamba, and “Why Do Fools Fall In Love?” with loud and appreciative applause.

Thanks to the numerous gift donors and businesses, the talented performers, the many, enthusiastic guests (who greatly enjoyed the evening), the many volunteers including our wonderful junior volunteer Brian White, the fantastic committee, chaired by Jeanine Condon, and Fr. Saffron, the moderator of the event, the evening was a great success, providing both a financial boost to the parish and the opportunity for parishioners, neighbors, and friends to enjoy a “fun time”, while creating another wonderful St. Anselm memory!

All the Best,

The St. Anselm Publicity Committee
