It was quite the scene on Saturday, October 3rd when dogs and one very brave cat joined their humans for a wonderful event – the Blessing of the Animals in honor of the patron saint of animals — St. Francis of Assisi whose Feast Day is October 4th.
Fr. Kull began with the blessing:
“O, God the author and giver of every gift, animals also are part of the way you provide help for our needs and labors. We pray through the intercession of St. Francis that you will make available for our use the things we need to maintain a decent human life. We ask this through Christ Our Lord, Amen.”
Fr. Kull then gave individual blessings to the well-behaved pets. It was a joyous, heartwarming experience and we are most grateful to Fr. Kull for this cause for those with paws!
The Blessing of the Animals is an annual event held in front of our Church or in the main vestibule depending on the weather. You do not have to be a pet owner to attend – just an animal lover! We hope you’ll join us next year – with or without a pet!
All the Best,
The St. Anselm Publicity Committee
