St. Anselm’s Young at Heart Club (YAH) began another year of fun, fellowship and service on Monday, September 14th. YAH meets weekly on Mondays from 10 am to 1 pm though June in Meletia Hall (the St. Anselm Catholic Academy basement at 83rd Street & 4th Avenue). Fr. Saffron led the group in the Pledge of Allegiance, the singing of America and opening prayers. He reminded all present that the day was the Feast of the Exaltation of the Cross and encouraged members to display a cross or other religious item prominently in their homes. President Pat DeStasio welcomed the members back after the summer break. Carol Wood spoke about upcoming activities for YAH, an Oktoberfest Trip to Pomona, NY, on the 23rd of October (unfortunately, already sold out), and a Holiday trip for later in the year. There will also be trips during the year to Atlantic City and Belmont Park.
Members of the Arts and Crafts Club of YAH meet Wednesdays in Meletia Hall at 10 am to create beautiful knit wear items. There are always experts on hand to help a beginner get started, lend a helping hand or advise on technique. Everyone is welcome!
Anyone interested in becoming a member of the Young at Heart or the Arts and Crafts Club (being a member of St. Anselm Parish is not required) should contact Sr. Regina Corde by calling the St. Anselm Rectory and leaving a voice mail (718-238-2900).
We wish all the members of the Young at Heart a happy and successful year. They’re off to a fabulous start!
All the Best,
The St. Anselm Publicity Committee
