December 2, 2017 – The Lighting of the Advent Trees

Joyful parishioners of all ages gathered in front of the church steps to hear Msgr. Maloney bless our Advent trees following the 5 PM Mass on Saturday, December 2nd.  At the conclusion, Msgr. declared “Let there be light!” and every tree was illuminated with beautiful lights.  Our fabulous Adult Choir serenaded those in attendance with 2 beautiful carols: “People Look East” & “Joy to the World”.   The joy was apparent—on the smiles of parishioners as they sang along and then later as they looked for “their” special tree.

This event takes much time, planning and commitment.  And we would like to thank everyone who worked to make it happen:  Committee Chair Phyllis Arlia, and her committee members Kim Parker & Michele Soto who worked decorating the trees for this special time.  Volunteers are the heart of a parish and St. Anselm’s “heart” is a strong one.  Thanks also to Msgr. Maloney for his lovely blessing and the exuberance he brings to the lighting.  Finally, a special thanks to our parishioners for sponsoring the trees in honor or in remembrance of loved ones.

All the best,
