The feast of Corpus Christi was celebrated in a special way during the 12pm Mass on June 18th. In addition to the majestic song and music of our Adult Choir, celebrant Fr. Saffron gave a homily which described ~ bread. He explained that while bread is something that can nourish us on our journey through life, it must be broken to be enjoyed. He reminded parishioners that while sins sometimes get in our way from our true identity which is Jesus Christ, it is joy, peace, & love that bring us back to Christ. Fr. Saffron concluded by encouraging parishioners to ask themselves, “Will I walk with Christ, share my faith and show my faith in all aspects of my life?”.
Following the Mass the parishioners were given the opportunity “to show our faith to the world” by joining Msgr. Maloney, Msgr. Phillips, Fr. Kull, Deacon Davis, Seminarian Dean, and Fr. Saffron as he carried the Monstrance containing the Blessed Sacrament in an outdoor procession, around the block. The Adult Choir joined the procession as well, singing glorious hymns along the procession route.
We thank our priests for the opportunity to show our faith and the Adult Choir, led by Musical Director Therese Panicali, for the beautiful singing during the procession and during the Mass as well – thank you for sharing your talents with us. Finally, a special “thank you” to Fr. Saffron for a thought-provoking homily and for leading us in a very special procession, an expression of our Catholic faith.
All the best,
The St. Anselm Publicity Committee
