October 23, 2017 – Best Wishes Fr. Anthony

As most parishioners know, our much-loved summer substitute priest, Fr. Anthony Alimnonu returned to his home in Nigeria on Monday, October 23rd. For 15 years now, Fr. Anthony’s coming to St. Anselm’s has been a sign of summer in the parish as he has “filled in” for St. Anselm priests taking their own summer vacations by turns. Summer 2017 marked not only his fifteenth year here with us at the parish, but also his 20th anniversary of ordination to the priesthood. Congratulations!

In Nigeria Fr. Anthony is the administrator of a hospital run by his order, the Congregation of the Holy Ghost, which provides medical care for members of his order and for people in the region (see the articles posted on the parish web site: August 2014 – “Fr. Anthony Becomes the Director of His Order’s Hospital in Nigeria” and August, 2016 – “Thank You Fr. Anthony!”).

Fr. Anthony is also trained in canon law, and in that capacity, serves his order and the church in southeastern Nigeria.

This past summer, Fr. Anthony gave a presentation on the partnership between the Holy Ghost Hospital MGBIDI and the American Initiative for Health and Wellness in Africa. We are happy to be able to share with you Fr. Anthony’s words.  (Click HERE to read Fr. Anthony’s words.)

Fr. Anthony has applied for a sabbatical year and intends to spend this time at St. Anselm.  We look forward to seeing him soon!

All the best,

The St. Anselm Publicity Committee
