March 25, 2018 – St. Patrick’s Day Parade and Party

St. Anselm Catholic Academy was the place to be on Sunday March 25th for the annual St. Patrick’s Day Party which began after the Bay Ridge St. Patrick’s Day Parade. A beautifully decorated Meletia Hall was a welcome respite from the cold, damp day.  Partygoers were treated to the sounds of the wonderful “Band of Rogues” who performed Irish and Rock classics such Galway Girl, The Wild Rover, Black Velvet Band, Twistin’ the Night Away, Margaritaville and, the final song of the night, God Bless America.   The youngest partygoers had a ball dancing to the lively music and had creating masterpieces from the artistic material supplied by the thoughtful party organizers.

While the guests caught up with each other and enjoyed delicious Irish Soda bread, corned beef, shepherd’s pie, veggies, and mac & cheese, the special guests — musicians from the Breezy Point, Knights of Columbus, Staten Island & Richmond County Pipe and Drum bands entered the hall and gave a rousing performance on the bagpipes and drums.

Family-friendly events like this could never occur without the volunteers who plan, set-up, serve, and cleanup afterward. SACA is truly blessed to have so many wonderful volunteers who served on the St. Patrick’s Day Party Committee:  Regina McPadden, Michele Soto, Barbara Thomas, & Majella Volk.  We were the grateful recipients of your hard work and eye for detail and we thank you for a lovely time.  We hope you’ll put your Irish on next year and join the fun!
