Back by popular demand – on October 18th St. Anselm Parish held its second Radio Bingo of 2019. Following on the March 1st, Radio Bingo – it was another great blast from the past, with parishioners and friends of St. Anselm enjoying an evening of music, dancing, fun activities and friendship in St. Anselm Catholic Academy’s Meletia Hall, while raising funds for the parish.
Participants were given Bingo cards with song titles and the names of performers from the 60s – 90s, rather than the traditional combinations of letters and numbers (B-9 / N-38, etc.). The DJ (DJs @ Work) then played songs, with the audience frequently singing along to the best loved parts, while looking to color in the boxes on their cards to form the traditional Bingo rows/ four corners/ full card – TO WIN!!!… – the generously donated “Prize Bottles” of wine. And, not to worry, if you didn’t recognize the song, you were helped along by the DJ calling out the title and the performer’s name.
In addition to the singing – there was dancing. Some of it by audience members who just decided to desert their cards to have a good time and some of it organized – if the Chicken Dance can be called “organized”, and a “chorus line” of ladies kicking up their heels to Frank Sinatra’s “New York, New York”.
And while all of this was going on, the audience tried their luck on a wonderful selection of donated gift baskets and the ever-popular 50/50 raffle. Congratulations to the winners and thank you to all the basket donors, and the evening’s participants for a great time.
“Thank you” to committee chairs – Eileen White and Michele Soto and to committee members: Jeanine Condon, Regina McPadden, Eileen Loughlin, and to the evening’s volunteers – Chris Gallagher, Bob Kassenbrock, and Peter Loughlin for a wonderful evening; and to Msgr. Maloney for his support of this fun-filled event.
All the best,
The St. Anselm Publicity Committee
