On Sunday, November 15th, the Saint Anselm Holy Name Society sponsored a Used Clothing Drive for the benefit of the St. Vincent de Paul Society. Our parishioners and neighbors heard the appeal to “go through your closets and drawers” and came out to share with the less fortunate the clothing they no longer would use. Coats, jackets, sweaters, shirts and blouses, pants and shoes were among the items generously donated to the St. Vincent de Paul Society, filling their van to the roof and out to the doors.
More than one hundred bags were donated. Benefitting the Saint Vincent de Paul Society in stocking the racks in their stores to provide income for St. Vincent’s charitable programs and in providing clothing to distribute to the poor.
We thank the St. Vincent de Paul Society for providing this much-needed service. And, a special thank you to the driver of the collection van, Atwa, who greeted every contributor with a smile and a thank you.
For more than a century the St. Vincent de Paul Society has served those in need in Brooklyn, and throughout the United States and the world.
A Prayer to St. Vincent de Paul
O Lord, give us the grace
That you bestowed
Upon your servant, St. Vincent de Paul,
To relinquish that temptation
Of material things
In our holy effort
To minister to the poor.
Thank you to our many generous donors for your support!
All the Best,
The St. Anselm Publicity Committee
