St. Anselm Youth Activities was in championship form on Friday, May 20th. The Pastors’ Tournament returned to Dyker Beach Golf Club in its “traditional” spring slot for the first time since 2019. This was the second outing since Covid canceled the event in 2020 – the 2021 tournament was played in October. The 23rd Golf Outing did itself proud – raising money for the wonderful programs Youth Activities offers throughout the year for the children of St. Anselm.
During a pleasant lunch, at which the participants enjoyed good food and great conversation, there was the opportunity to buy raffles for wonderful prizes, as well as a 50/50. When the meal was completed, the players headed to their golf carts and the rules were read as to how the winning team would be determined – the players participate as teams (foursomes), not as individuals.
A late afternoon deluge stopped the play, but did nothing to dampen anyone’s spirits, as the event continued with players and additional guests enjoying a delicious awards dinner during which everyone had a last opportunity to purchase raffles before the winners were announced.
“Thank you” to all the sponsors, players, and the ‘dinner only’ guests as well as the donors of the raffle gifts for supporting this great activity. “Thank you” to Tom McCarthy, Chair, Frank Barnao, Anne Texeira, Janet Bonamassa, and Anthony LoPiccolo for making the event possible.
And, a special “Thank You” to Saint Anselm Youth Activities for its many great programs for the young people of the parish.
All the best,
The St. Anselm Publicity Committee
