June 5, 2022 – St. Anselm Celebrates the Sacrament of Confirmation

Saint Anselm Parish held a unique Pentecost Sunday this year. The parish celebrated the Sacrament of Confirmation, as it does annually on the Feast of Pentecost, the birthday of the Church. But, in addition, the parish observed its 100th anniversary (founded on June 4th, 1922).

While Msgr. Maloney, our pastor, administered the Sacrament to a group of six young adults, he noted that it was at Pentecost that the Apostles, strengthened by the Holy Spirit, put aside their fears to become proclaimers of the Word, as we all are required to do, not necessarily in what we say – but, moreover, in how we act.  Monsignor also spoke of how the parish has offered the faithful the opportunity to receive the Sacraments and hear the Word of God proclaimed to tens of thousands of parishioners and visitors over our own “Parish Century”.

And so, on this Pentecost Sunday, as we celebrate the Sacrament of Confirmation, our thanks to Bro. Robert Duffy O.S.F., Director of the Adult Confirmation Classes 2022, to the sponsors and families of the Confirmation candidates and, to Bishop Brennan, who met with the candidates on March 6th at St. Patrick Church for the Rite of Election – so that today we can say – Congratulations and Best Wishes!
