October 22 & 23, 2022 – The Louise Troisi Clothing Drive for Catholic Charities

The Louise Troisi Winter Clothing Drive

for Catholic Charities

Our winter clothing drive which was held the weekend of October 22nd & 23rd was a great success!  Happy Parishioners entered the Rosary Chapel with new or gently used items which would help keep someone warm during the winter.  We would like to share the “Thank You” we received from Catholic Charities:

“Where the poor are concerned, it is not talk that matters; what matters is rolling up our sleeves and putting our faith into practice through a direct involvement, one that cannot be delegated.” (Pope Francis, 2022 World Day of the Poor Message)

November is the official date for the observance of the World Day of the Poor message by Pope Francis. In this year’s message the Holy Father reflects on the theme from the second letter of the Corinthians, “For your sakes Christ became poor.” It is a reminder to us of the solidarity that Christ has with the poor and marginalized communities, with our brothers and sisters in need. In the above quote Pope Francis reminds us that being in solidarity with the poor is not just a cause from prayer and reflection but for action. We at Catholic Charities in the Diocese of Brooklyn and Queens are seeing many communities that are in need. These are the communities that we are called to be attentive to and to respond by “rolling up our sleeves and putting our faith into practice.” We at Catholic Charities are thankful for the amazing donations from the community of St. Anselm Parish, these coats and winter clothes will go a long way to help us in serving these communities especially as the winter months set in.  Thank you, and God Bless you all.
