December 3, 2022 – Advent Tree Lighting

“… and the Lord will make the glory of his voice heard in the joy of your heart.”  (Isaiah 30: 30)

Joyful parishioners of all ages gathered in front of the church steps to hear Fr. John bless our Advent trees following the 5 PM Mass on Saturday, December 3rd.  As he concluded, Fr. John declared “Let there be light!” and every tree was illuminated with beautiful lights.  Our fabulous Adult Choir, under the direction of Therese Panicali, began and concluded the happy occasion with 2 beautiful carols: “People Look East” & “Joy to the World”.   The joy was apparent—on the smiles of parishioners as they sang along and then later as they looked for “their” special tree.

This event takes much time, planning and commitment.  And we would like to thank those who worked to make it happen:  Committee Chairs Phyllis Arlia and Kim Parker. Volunteers are the heart of a parish and St. Anselm’s “heart” is a strong one.  Thanks also to Fr. John for his lovely blessing and to Fr. Anthony and Msgr. Phillips for their support.  Finally, a very special thanks to our parishioners for sponsoring the trees in honor or in remembrance of loved ones.

All the best,

The St. Anselm Publicity Committee
