December 17, 2022 – St. Anselm Advent Afternoon of Prayer and Song

Despite the Church being in the Season of Advent – 3 PM Saturday afternoon December 17th was a joyous occasion at Saint Anselm as the Adult Choir, under the direction of Therese Panicali, Director of the Music Ministry and the Adult Choir, presented a selection of scripture passages and song, Beautiful Song, JOYOUS SONG!

The afternoon began with the hymn “People Look East”, followed by Fr. John Hwang, Pastor of Saint Anselm, reading a prayer.

Then came one glorious hymn after another – all selected to remind those present of the true reason for the decoration, the lights and the gifts – the Coming of our Lord.

Carols and hymns – both familiar and well loved: “Angels We Have Heard on High”, “God Rest You, Merry Gentlemen”, “The First Noel”, “Silent Night”, “O Holy Night” and many more, as well as some not so well known, were interspersed with scripture readings from the Gospel of Luke, and the inspirational “One Solitary Life” to take the congregation on a spiritual journey.

Our thanks to the members of our Adult Choir: Allen, Betty, Bill, David, Ellen, George, Lauren, Marie, Mario, Mary Alice, Michael, Mona, Paul, Teri and Tique – to Kirsten, our organist, and of course – Therese, our soloist and Director, who gave us such a wonderful, joyous and uplifting Advent afternoon of prayer and song to prepare us for Christmas!

All the best,

The St. Anselm Publicity Committee
