Radio Bingo was back! After having enjoyed the music, the dancing, the food, the prizes, and the fun – TWICE – in 2019, Radio Bingo (a crazy variation on traditional Bingo in which the audience has to identify and mark off the songs played by the DJ) returned to St. Anselm. And, it was a great evening for all.
Those in attendance had a wonderful time, enjoying each other’s company while snacking on a selection of chips and an incredible assortment of foods brought in by the participants themselves. With music playing the audience searched their radio bingo cards for the titles of popular songs from the 60’s, 70’s, 80’s and 90’s in order to fill in the squares on their cards and claim a prize.
While the songs were being played, participants had the opportunity to try their luck on a fantastic raffle selection of donated gifts and the ever popular 50/50. Thank you to the Fathers’ Club of Bay Ridge Catholic, who donated the gift bottles of wine; to St. Anselm Youth Activities for donating the set-ups (soft drinks and ice); to the Home Academy Association of BRC for the array of Bay Ridge Catholic clothing; and to the many generous parishioners for their gifts. We know that lots of people went home happy with their newly acquired treasures.
And, in addition to the card marking and the dancing there were fun activities – a baton pass to the music of the William Tell Overture – No, not the “Lone Ranger” (let’s give Rossini credit where credit is due). The individuals holding the baton when the music stopped were the lucky winners who got to go up “on stage” to demonstrate their talent at dancing and walking like a model on a runway, all the while waving and twirling their colorful batons to the delight and applause of everyone.
It was truly a joyous evening for St. Anselm Parish, thanks to the dedication of a great committee: Jeanine Condon, Christine Deem, Bob Kassenbrock, Eileen & Peter Loughlin, Regina McPadden, Simone Mouakkassah, Adele Ruocco, Eileen & Andrew White, and Suzanne Whiteaker – THANK YOU! And thank you to all our parishioners and the community for supporting Radio Bingo.
All the best,
The St. Anselm Publicity Committee
