Sunday, April 23rd was a joyous occasion for Saint Anselm Parish. Bishop Robert Brennan, Bishop of Brooklyn, was the celebrant at the 10 AM Mass at which Confirmation was conferred on 8th Grade students in Bay Ridge Catholic Academy and the St. Anselm Religious Education Program. The Mass, both solemn and joyous, filled with glorious music and ancient symbolism, was followed by a Parish Sunday Social in the Academy’s McMahon Auditorium at which the newly confirmed and their families had to opportunity to be photographed with Bishop Brennan, to enjoy a hot drink and a donut, and to chat with one another.
Preparing our 8th Graders to receive Confirmation was a labor of love and dedication to the faith, and so we thank: Roseann Bourke – Religious Education Director, Dr. Thomas Larkin – Religious Education Teacher, Duanna Kempton – Religion teacher – Grades 6, 7 and 8 Bay Ridge Catholic Academy, and Eileen Downey – Grade 8 Homeroom Teacher/Science teacher Grades 6, 7, and 8 Bay Ridge Catholic Academy, and their parents for bringing these young people to this important milestone in their journey of faith.
And, of course, we say thank you to the wonderful volunteers and committee who hosted the Sunday Social, which followed the Confirmation: Christine Deem, Bob Kassenbrock, Eileen & Peter Loughlin, Linda Nardovy, Judy Savarese, Pat Stramka, and Josephine Volpe.
Thank you – Bishop Brennan and Fr. John for this wonderful and joyous Confirmation.
All the best,
The St. Anselm Publicity Committee
