November 19, 2023 – St. Anselm November Sunday Social

When Images of happy pilgrims and turkeys appear in classrooms, store windows and front gardens, we are reminded that Thanksgiving is approaching and that we have many things to be thankful for; thankful for our families, friends, and loved ones, for our country and most importantly for our faith.

And so, when on Sunday, November 19th the Saint Anselm Family gathered for our November Sunday Social, we gathered, not just to enjoy warm drinks and delicious treats while chatting about our upcoming plans for the quickly approaching Thanksgiving holiday and Christmas, but also to share our friendship and love.

We also gathered, as a family, to express our appreciation for the service men and women who protect us at home and around the world. Saint Anselm parish is supporting the “Christmas Cards for Our Troops” program and so – both children from our parish CCD program and adults took time at the Social to write and decorate cards to be sent to our service personnel, expressing our support and thankfulness for their service.

At this time of year when we pause to “Give Thanks”, we are also thankful for our wonderful Sunday Social Committee: Barbara Fabris and Eileen Loughlin, co-chairs and the great group of volunteers: Danique, Sanjin Fabris, Bob Kassenbrock, Peter Loughlin, Nancy Nolan, Judy Savarese, Pat Stramka, and Josephine Volpe who set-up, served and cleaned up effortlessly. Events like the Socials could never happen without the support of our parishioners. If you would like to volunteer at a Social, please contact the Rectory.  We would love to welcome more volunteers!

Our next Sunday Social, the first of 2024, will be January 28th. We will be celebrating Catholic Schools Week and all the wonderful programs and activities offered at Bay Ridge Catholic.

See you in the New Year!

All the best,
The St. Anselm Publicity Committee
