March 24, 2024 – St. Patrick’s Day Celebration

Saint Anselm Parish did itself proud on Sunday, March 24th – hosting the annual “Party After the Parade” following the Bay Ridge St. Patrick’s Day Parade.

Meletia Hall was filled with people of Irish ancestry and those who just wanted to celebrate a great Bay Ridge event – the Parade – while joining with family and friends in a happy day.

Happy indeed, as a delicious selection of food and wonderful music were the order of the day. Diners enjoyed shepherd’s pie, corned beef and other traditional St. Patrick’s Day foods (including – not so traditional – green and white cookies) while dancing to and enjoying the music of Band of Rogues and watching a beautiful display of Irish Step Dancing.

During the afternoon, celebrants had the opportunity to try their luck at a 50/50 Raffle and a fantastic selection of raffle gifts – “Thank You” to the generous donors: Green & white cookies – the LaFerlita family, Gift Basket of Italian Treats – the Casamento family, Gift Basket for Children – Nataliya Brennan, Libations – the Fadel family, Irish Soda Bread – Lynne Savage, and the individuals who donated to the Basket of Cheer. We know there were many lucky and happy winners.

Congratulations to the Guest of Honor, Daniel Flynn, Bay Ridge resident, Chief Fire Marshal of the City of New York and Grand Marshall of this year’s parade!

An event, such as the Parade Party, requires a lot of effort and dedication – and so we say “Thank You” to a wonderful team of volunteers: The Cassidy family, Christine Cucuzza, the Gallagher family, Bob Kassenbrock, the Loughlin family, the McCardle family, the McKenna family, Judy Savarese, the Soto family, the Thomas family, and Dawn Torpey – who put together a great day for Saint Anselm Parish and for Bay Ridge!

All the best,
The St. Anselm Publicity Committee
