April 21, 2024 – Feast of Saint Anselm Social

On Sunday April 21st, Saint Anselm Parish celebrated the feast day of our patron saint with special prayers during the Sunday morning Masses; and with a Social following the 10am Mass.

Gathering in Bay Ridge Catholic Academy’s McMahon Auditorium for the Social, parishioners happily chatted with Fr. John, Fr. Ray, Msgr. Phillips and Deacon Tom – and with family and friends. We don’t know what St. Anselm would have thought of the delicious selection of donuts, coffee and tea, but our parishioners certainly enjoyed themselves on the Feast Day of our Patron.

Saint Anselm was born in 1033 in Aosta, in northern Italy. He became the Abbot of the Monastery of Bec in France and Archbishop of Canterbury. A great theologian and defender of the Church, Saint Anselm died on April 21, 1109. Pope Clement XI declared Anselm a Doctor of the Church in 1720.

The St. Anselm April Sunday Social was made possible thanks to the participation of our fantastic parishioners and – “THANKS!” to Fr. John, our great committee chairs – Barbara Fabris and Eileen Loughlin, and a wonderful group of volunteers: Danique, Bob Kassenbrock, Peter Loughlin, Linda Naradovy, Nancy Nolan, Judy Savarese and Josephine Volpe!

Our next Sunday Social will be on May 12th – Mother’s Day. At the May Social the winning ticket of the Youth Activities 50/50 Raffle will be drawn – “You’ve got to be in it to win it” – if you haven’t purchased a ticket, reach out to the Youth Activities Office in the Rectory, (718) 238-2900 X 109.

We hope to see you in May!

All the best,
The St. Anselm Publicity Committee
