Yes, St. Anselm held its first ever COMEDY NIGHT on Friday, November 15th, in the Academy’s Meletia Hall.
Featuring the humor of Tommy Gooch – a comedian who performs around NYC and Atlantic City, the evening attracted an enthusiastic audience who came out to support the parish and to enjoy an evening of fun (and food! There was enough pizza, sandwiches, cookies and snacks on the tables to feed a small army!)
The evening of comedy was led off by two funny guys from Staten Island: John Kurschner and Steve Pocaro, who opened the night of stand-up comedy with jokes about their families, their jobs and their weight. All topics the audience could relate to. After their opening sets the main comedian of the evening – Tommy Gooch – took the stage, sharing his humor and telling the audience how thrilled he was to be appearing in “a basement in Brooklyn”.
The evening was a wonderful success thanks to both the enthusiastic enjoyment of the audience, and the many great raffle prizes – made possible thanks to generous donors: Christina & John Cafiero, Jeanine & Jim Condon, Barbara & Sanjin Fabris, Bob Kassenbrock, Eileen & Peter Loughlin, Judy Savarese, and Jo Volpe – and the 50/50 raffle, making for a fun evening for those who wanted to try their luck, and for everyone who came out to enjoy a night of laughter.
Our thanks to a wonderful committee of volunteers who put the evening together: Christina Cafiero, Barbara Fabris, Bob Kassenbrock, Peter Loughlin, Judy Saverese, Josephine Volpe, Suzanne Whiteaker and Comedy Night Chairs: Jeanine Condon & Eileen Loughlin.
We hope to see you at future St. Anselm events in 2025!
All the best,
The St. Anselm Publicity Committee
