January 4, 2025 – Young Catholic Adults Group, Swing Dance Lesson & Social

Gotta Dance, Gotta Dance, GOTTA DANCE!!! And dance they did as St. Anselm Young Catholic Adults Group and Msgr. Ronald Marino, moderator, welcomed in the New Year on Saturday, January 4th with a fun evening of movement at the “Swing Dance Lesson & Social” in Bay Ridge Catholic Academy.

Dozens, from the parish, from other parishes and from the community, came to participate in the two-part evening which was led off with a swing dance lesson given by instructors: Jessica Bailey and Michael Petruso, members of the Young Catholic Adults Group. After the lesson, the evening continued with a social.

Taking the more than fifty eager dancers in attendance through the steps of swing dance, the instructors demonstrated with each other and then switched partners to show the steps to other dancers. Many dancers came with partners, but those who came without a partner were paired up for the lesson.

During the evening Michael Petruso shared the QR codes for four Catholic social activities in New York City: the St. Anselm Young Adults Whatsapp Group Chat, The NYC Catholic Events Whatsapp Group Chat, The NYC Catholic Events Weekly E-Mail Signup, and The Catholic Swing Dance WhatsApp Group Chat. See the QR codes at the conclusion of the photo set to get in touch with these Catholic social groups and become active, meet new people, and make new friends.

The St. Anselm Young Catholic Adults Group meets weekly on Thursday evenings at 7PM in the Msgr. Colbert Center in the Bay Ridge Catholic Academy building, engaging in scripture reflections, talks by invited speakers and group dinners.

The January 4th evening was not just a fun gathering for those who enjoyed dance, but also a great fundraiser for the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, raising more than $400!

Our thanks to Msgr. Marino, the members of the Young Catholic Adults Group and instructors – Jessica Bailey and Michael Petruso for starting the year at St. Anselm with this wonderful, evening of smiles!

All the best,
The Saint Anselm Publicity committee
