July 20,2025 – St. Anselm Blood Drive for the New York Blood Center

On Sunday, July 20, 2025, Saint Anselm Parish hosted a Blood Drive in Meletia Hall for the New York Blood Center. Dozens of donors generously took the time and made the effort to come, and share the gift of life.

St. Anselm Parish volunteers greeted the donors as they arrived, thanking them for coming.

The process of donation moves through several steps. First the donors registered their information on NY Blood Center laptops. They then met with a representative of the NYBC, who reviewed with them their medical history, took blood pressure, and checked for blood sugar and iron levels.

For those who qualified, on Sunday 41 donors were accepted, individuals had the option to either make a “regular” donation or to participate in an ALEX donation. An ALEX donation is extremely desirable. While it takes additional time, it permits the separation of the blood into several products.

Following the process of making their donation, donors rested up and recharged at the canteen table, enjoying drinks and snacks before leaving, with a word of “thanks”.

“Thank you” to the donors, who took the time and effort to come to come to Meletia Hall on a hot summer day to support this worthwhile activity. They made it possible for the parish to help the New York Blood Center share the gift of life with those in need. “Thank you” to Fr. Kevin for his support of the St. Anselm Blood Drive and to a wonderful committee: Bob Kassenbrock, Barbara Fabris, and Eileen & Peter Loughlin.
