Thanks to the generosity of Scout Troop 13, on Sunday, July 27th 2025, following the 11am Mass, Saint Anselm Parish held a “dedication ceremony” for a new American flag for the Rectory flagpole.
The event began with the celebration of Mass at 11am, which started with a procession by members of the Scout Troop up the main aisle. Fr. Kevin welcomed the troop, which was greeted with applause by the congregation. Fr. Kevin then invited everyone to join him, Deacon Tom, and Troop 13, for the dedication ceremony at the Rectory garden at the conclusion of the Mass.
When Mass was over, the scouts, with their scout leaders, Fr. Kevin and Deacon Tom walked to the Rectory garden. The Scouts stood along the garden railing while Fr. Kevin, on the rectory steps, spoke about the values of faith, and service to country and community which scouting nurtures. Fr. Kevin then blessed the flag and it was raised for the first time. With the flag flying overhead, the troop and the dozens of parishioners, who had gathered for the ceremony, joined together in reciting the Pledge of Allegiance, after which all joined in singing “God Bless America”.
Thank you to the members of Scout Troop 13: Dylan, Thurston, Arthur, Gian Paolo, Felix, Antonio and John who participated in the Mass and dedication ceremony, and to the scout leaders: John McCluskey, Mirek Brzezinski, and Harry D’Onofrio for your generosity in donating the flag.
Thank you to the scout leaders and the parents – for all you do for the youngsters of Troop 13.
