Liturgical Ministers (Lectors)
It is preferable for the liturgical ministers to read the readings of the day before they attend Mass. You can find the readings at the home. You may modify your Mass availability and enter dates you are unable to serve.

Ushers (Ministry of Hospitality)
Ushers are the group of individuals who welcome worshipers to the weekend Masses. They provide a count of the congregation for the parish record, take up the collections, arrange for parishioners to participate in the Eucharistic celebration by selecting worshipers to present the gifts, and give out bulletins, flyers and, any current materials which the parish or diocese may wish to be distributed.
Ushers should make a commitment to attend a particular Mass as much as possible and to let the head usher know in advance if they will not be able to be present on a particular weekend. To become an usher, speak to the head usher of the Mass, which you attend, or call the rectory: 718-238-2900.
Catechists
Catechists are volunteer teachers in our School of Religion. They are Catholics who educate the children of our parish in the love of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Classes are on Sundays at 8:30 a.m. from September to June. Catechists must be fully initiated in the church, complete Virtus child safety training and participate in ongoing faith formation. We also have volunteer positions for catechist assistants.

Our Ministry offers comfort, unassuming support and hope to our parishioners who have suffered the loss of a loved one. Coordinators call and may visit with the families to help them prepare for the funeral liturgy, and parishioners who volunteer take turns attending and assisting at the Funeral Masses. Usually, the time commitment is approximately 2 hours per month. If you would like to learn more, please call the Rectory at 718-238-2900.
Workforce Ministry
The St. Anselm Workforce Ministry is a committee of the St. Anselm Parish Pastoral Planning Council. The Workforce Ministry, which began in 2008, is comprised of parish volunteers. The mission of the Workforce Ministry is to provide parishioners, the members of the Bay Ridge Community and beyond with the knowledge and tools necessary for finding employment, changing careers or starting their own business.
Our event partners have included the Brooklyn Chamber of Commerce, Opportunities for a Better Tomorrow, The Brooklyn Economic Development Corporation and the Small Business Development Center.
Past Workforce Ministry events covered topics such as job sourcing information, resume development, and effective interviewing strategies for finding employment or changing careers. Additionally, other events to start a business included panel discussions with small business owners and writing a business plan.
We are currently in the process of planning future events and welcome you to join our dynamic committee. Please contact stanselmworkforceministry@yahoo.com if you would like to join us.
